a little bit mini

I saw a tutorial for this little mini on the Crate Paper blog and thought I would give it a go.  I did take pics of the process so I could share what I did too...maybe I'll have time for that little tutorial later in the week.  We just got a new computer and it seems like all of my stuff is discombobulated right now.
I made this mini using my Studio Calico Spencer's kit. Each page is 3x4 and has a pocket where I tucked in OA cards that have journaling on them about our adventure. Right now it only has 3 cards, but I might add more if I have more stuff to say:) Each group of 4 pages is 1 piece of 4x12 paper folded in 3" increments and the pages are sewed together at the end.  I felt like it needed some more stability so I added a little binding.  I tied it up with some black and white twine to keep it closed in the mini book bowl.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week!

spring time saturday

It finally feels like spring! Nice and sunny but not hot. Yay!
I received my Studio Calico kit yesterday, unpacked it this morning and made a LO and a card...

I used the member scraplift challenge at Studio Calico for the LO of my sweet little one "playing" with her friend...it seems like the norm these days for kids to be focused on their devices instead of interacting with each other...everything is from the Spencer's scrapbooking, card or PL kit except the flair camera button, the OA today tab, the you and me sticker, the red alphas from a previous kit and the graph paper from the new graph paper at Studio Calico.

and a graduation card with some scraps using the stamp and twine from Spencer's card kit

I didn't want to do it...

but this piece of paper kept calling my name...I wanted to save it...to store it...to be able to say that I still had it...just because I love it so much...and I totally missed out on everything last month at Studio Calico because my classroom observation was going on at 11 on reveal day...and well, some things are just more important.

So happy that I used it!

Also happy I signed up for the card kit...love the smaller scale of the prints and I used it for the rays of my sunshine along with one of my most favorite SC stamps of all time...and then, of course I made some cards with the scraps...

just a note...with some sequins and a cupcake that I found at the bottom of a drawer I was cleaning out the other day...

and happy birthday...with some twine and a button

It is back to the grind tomorrow...have a happy week!

Happy Easter!

I made 2 Easter cards this morning along with the Shop Your Stash Challenge.
The challenge this week

1. Use a patterned paper and embellishment from your favorite scrapbook brand.
2. Use 2 or more "office inspired" supplies on your project.
3. Use both a small and large alpha for your title.
4. Use 1 or more non-scrapbook item(s) that you have collected.

I managed 3 of the 4...couldn't figure out "office inspired" for the cards, but oh well, at least I got my cards made and used up some stash.  I used some old school Cosmo Cricket, a stamped small and letter stickers for the greeting inside and a doily for my non-scrapbook item.

One with a bunny

One with a chick

and the inside, just so you know I really did use 2 different alphas:)

I wish you a blessed Easter weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

the killing of a kit

The peeps over at Studio Calico often talk of killing kits...using a kit until there is nothing left.  I love the idea of using up my entire kit before the next one comes along and sometimes it happens but not often and my supplies start stacking up.  So one day this week, since it is spring break and I don't have to go to work, I went about killing my Junior Mints add-on from February.  I wasn't feeling the kit and really don't know why I bought it except I had a coupon and it helped me get free shipping.

So during the last post I had made 2 cards and I made another one that I gave away without taking a picture...crazy right?  I used the Sunday sketch at Studio Calico to make this layout...

Nice because it used up almost 2 whole sheets of paper!

Then I made a card for the Sunday sketch...see the similarity:)

Then I took all of the scraps and added in some BG fact (love that stuff) and using the same design made these 4 cards...

and at the end of the day I was left with this...

the grid paper, tickets, dots, stars and flair will be added to the main kit to be used there
the strips will be thrown away...that glitter gets everywhere!
the MME paper was put with other papers from the same line which I just got in a RAK box from 2 peas in a bucket.
the alpha stickers were sold with some other SNAP project life goodies.
and I am not really sure about the AC letters...they might get used or maybe sold.

So there you have it! The killing of a kit Leah style...thanks for stopping by!

a whirl wind weekend

of card making went on at my house this weekend...five birthdays at work this week and my stash of birthday cards is down to almost nothing...glad I had Studio Calico's monthly class You've Got Mail to give me some inspiration for these circle cards... I actually made 2...the other one was the reverse of the red polka dot paper and the black chevron paper...love that Basic Grey fiction paper that looks like a yellow legal pad...perfect for school!

then with the really.really last scraps of the above papers I made this card...

I also made a card for the 2.24 Studio Calico Sunday sketch using my front row add-on kit Junior Mints...not really feeling this paper, but it does make pretty cards...

and one for 3/3 Studio Calico Sunday sketch

I also finished up January Project Life...but need to get it photographed...hope to share it soon.
Thanks for stopping by!

I am in a card state of mind...

at least for today and my never ending quest to use up my scraps...
so today I made 4 cards...crazy right? the first 3 using up scraps from my Studio Calico Block Party kit and a 4th using up some BG fact/fiction.

happy.happy...I used a tutorial from Gillian on the Studio Calico blog to create these awesome stars...glad that most of my birthday cards are used at work and I can hand deliver them!

the second two are hi cards that are pretty flat so I can send them in the mail...
this one uses a printable from SC and a fabric circle from BG fact/fiction.

and this one uses another printable and some orange twine from The Twinery.

the last card uses BC fact/fiction and I was inspired by the Sunday sketch on the SC blog

I think I might go work on a layout now...thanks for stopping by:)

Happy Birthday to me!

I have had a lovely day spent with family celebrating my way too old birthday.  I also spent a significant amount of time with my scrap goodies this weekend!

I made a LO with a picture from thanksgiving using my SC kit and some BG fiction...also added some SC Memoir in to match the moment color on the tag.

and I cut family out of AC POW paper using my Silhouette.

I also made a card for the LOAW #4 (layout a week) challenge in the challenge forum at SC...
I lifted a LO by the ever so talented neroliskye ...and I used up the scraps from my last couple of LOs!

Hope you have a wonderful week:)

Inspired Blueprints #81

Inspired Blueprints is back! And I am excited that I was able to play for the first round.
Here is my LO...

I used my January Studio Calico kit plus some BG Fact or Fiction (love that flair button) and a blue sheet of Crate Paper paper from the Story Teller line to scrap these cute pics taken during mags' birthday party.

A new challenge site...

So Ally from the Studio Calico boards has set up a new challenge site to use up some stash...and the first challenge is up and due on February 4th so get hoppin'! It's called Shop Your Stash Challenge and she has one heck of a first challenge for those who are ribbon impaired...aka me!  But I did manage to make 3 cards for the Valentine's Day card swap at Studio Calico.

Here are the "rules" for this challenge

1. Use a patterned paper that is either from your stash, or if you are a kit subscriber, from a kit that is more than 6 months old!
2. Use a piece of patterned or printed chipboard (non-alpha). For example, the printed chipboard used on this card was from an OLD KI Memories collection. Love that black and white!
3.Your goal is to submit to the Member Gallery Featured Layout Scraplift Challenge featuring a beautiful layout by Melissamann.
I used a MME paper pack dated 2007 and a small strip of old Pink Paislee, pink and white ribbon (and I used up the spool...woot), and some who knows what kind of chip that I found in my "holiday" blackhole box.

Thanks for the challenge Ally!

thanks long weekend!

I was able to get the laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, errands and 2 layouts done! That's almost unheard of in my neck of the woods.  I even took a trip to the mall with mags so she could get something new to wear to her birthday party next weekend.

My first LO is about the trip we took to my brother's house the day after thanksgiving...not something I was really looking forward to, but my dad was in town and my brother was stuck at home so 3 hours there and 3 hours back I drove...glad I did:)

This one is based on the Sunday sketch at Studio Calico and I finally broke into my January kit ...

I also used my January kit plus some BG Fiction on the next one...black paint and Mr. Huey gold splotches and I tried my hand at some messy thread too...

I finished another this evening and hope I can take a picture and share soon.

I'm in a card making state of mind.

I managed 2 cards this week for the CHA challenges and the Sunday sketch at Studio Calico.
The first is a birthday card made from SC Hey Day die cuts and the scraps from my last LO.  I embossed the SC veneer bird with some AC silver glitter ZING.

The second card was made from some more Echo Park everyday eclectic and a HI speech bubble I cut with my cameo.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hopefully, I will have a LO to share soon!
